Maria Verdile is both an artist and an educator. She is very busy with either creating art, or teaching art. She happens to love both and believes that the two go hand in hand. Maria knows the importance of art expression in her life. For her personality, it is something that has to be done, something included into her every day. Being creative is a part of everyone, and having the courage to express, the humility to experiment and expose is key. Maria strives to help her students to enjoy the mere process of making art as much as she does.
Maria attended Siena College in Loudonville, New York and the State University of New York at Albany to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art. She also attended the International School of Animation at Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada for an additional 3 year degree in animation and cartooning. This is where she met and became friends with a very funny Daniel Fiorito! With these degrees, Maria has created a variety of artwork with her favorites being in watercolor, colored pencils, acrylics on textured boards and cartooning. She is very excited at the possibilities of her and Dany’s new line of greeting cards and the many exciting things happening at BirdDay Arts.
Daniel’s reflections on Maria’s artwork :
“Looking at the work of Maria Verdile, we immediately think of the fresco paintings, at the time of the Italian Renaissance. Maria’s subjects are classical and sober, her color choice is soft and correctly dosed. The composition is fluid and well balanced. Everything is done considering the whole image. The talent and work of Verdile, inspires us with genuine emotion. The result is clever and harmonious, sincere and timeless.”
